Mangrove Forest Restoration Project

Mangroves store significantly more carbon than typical tropical rainforests and help reduce damage from typhoons, tidal waves, and tsunamis. They also provide outstanding biodiversity benefits, yet many areas have been destroyed by development for local livelihoods. Since 2018, SK Innovation has carried out restoration projects centered on the Mekong Delta region, while also conducting environmental education for local residents and students.

  • Cumulative restoration area : 239 ha (Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Fiji)
  • Cumulative trees planted : about 960,000 trees
    (*Period : 2018–2025)
  • Environmental Guardians

Ecosystem-disrupting invasive plants reproduce rapidly, hinder native species, and can cause various harms, such as allergies, making timely removal essential. SK Innovation affiliates conduct removal activities while converting removed plants into compost and sowing seeds to support ecosystem recovery.

    • Cumulative participants : 2,147
    • Activity venues : Jamwon Hangang Park in Seoul,
      Yuseongcheon in Daejeon, etc.
